I'm A Somebody

Do you think of yourself as a “somebody”? All of us, at times want to feel more that we matter, that we count and are a “somebody” to others. There are those that live their entire lives with a sense of despair and sadness because they don’t feel that they really matter or that their existence counts for much. If you may be one of these people or in those times when you question your importance and significance try to remember that:

- Somebody is very proud of you.
- Somebody is always thinking of you.
- Somebody cares about you.
- Somebody misses you when you leave them.
- Somebody wants to talk to you.
- Somebody wants to be with you.
- Somebody wants to hold your hand.
- Somebody hopes everything turns out all right.
- Somebody wants you to be happy.
- Somebody wants you to seek them out.
- Somebody is celebrating your successes.
- Somebody wants to give you a gift.
- Somebody thinks that you are a gift.
- Somebody wants to hug you.
- Somebody loves you.
- Somebody admires your strength.
- Somebody trusts you.
- Somebody is thinking of you and smiling.
- Somebody wants to be your shoulder to cry on.
- Somebody wants you to have a lot of fun.
- Somebody thinks the world of you.
- Somebody wants to protect you.
- Somebody would do anything for you.
- Somebody has faith in you.
- Somebody wants to be your friend.
- Somebody loves you for who you are.
- Somebody wants you to know they are there for you.
- Somebody wants to tell you how much they care.
- Somebody wants to share their dreams for you with you.
- Somebody wants to hold you in their arms.
- Somebody treasures your spirit.
- Somebody needs you to let them be your friend.

That “Somebody” is the God of the universe that uniquely and wonderfully created you in His image. That “Somebody” is your Abba Father who is very fond of you and loves you more than you know or can possibly imagine. It really is as someone has said: “the Father loves everyone, but you're His favorite.” The implications of this are profound and far reaching. What it means is that each one of us, in a very special way is a “somebody” because of the Somebody that created us and cares about each one of us in a very special way.

The question is what will be your response to the One that considers you to be a very special somebody? May our response be the same as David’s who struggled as we do with believing that we really are a somebody and therefore can live in the freedom of being loved. “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.” (Ps. 139:14)
